A PRESCRIPTION FOR HEALING
God is a Healer. It is his nature to heal. He reveals himself as "the Lord who heals" (Exodus 15v26). It is as natural and easy for God to heal as it is for you to breathe. When Jesus walked the earth, he perfectly demonstrated the will of God. He spent a large part of his time healing the sick.
"God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him." (Acts 10v38)
"Now when the sun was setting, all those who were sick with various diseases brought them to Jesus; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them." (Luke 4v40)
Fortunately, Jesus has not changed. Although Jesus is not physically here on earth now, he has made provision for us to be healed through his Word and in his Name.
"Jesus Christ is the same
yesterday, today, and forever"
Take the following verses from the Bible like medicine. Read them regularly and meditate on them as much as you can. The more you let them fill your heart, the more your faith will grow, and the more effective - and joyful - your prayers will be.
Prayer is not magical and it is not mechanical. It is a vital and ongoing relationship with the Lord. Faith is not positive thinking. Positive thinking is about what we can do. Faith is about believing God and what he has said and can do.
Pray these prayers by faith, not by sight. What you experience with your senses must eventually line up with the truth of God's words.
These prayers are not intended to replace your current treatment. If you are on medication, do not stop taking it until you have seen your doctor and had your healing confirmed.
Pray in expectation. Watch for your healing, not for the symptoms of sickness. Begin to do things you could not do before.
Confess your sin. If there is any unconfessed sin in your life, it may be an obstacle to your healing, so bring it to the Lord. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John lv9). Repentance is a wonderful thing because it is an opportunity to begin again.
Forgive others. Lack of forgiveness can hinder your prayers, and so hinder your healing. Jesus said, "Whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses" (Mark 11v25)
HEAVENLY FATHER I THANK YOU FOR YOUR LIVING WORD ...
I pay attention to it. I listen closely to your words. I will not let them out of my sight. I keep them within my heart, for they are health and life - medicine - to my whole body. (Proverbs 4v20-22)
Today I apply your word to my body by confessing it aloud.
Jesus took my sicknesses and carried my pains. He was pierced for my transgressions, he was crushed for my iniquities; the punishment that brought me wholeness was upon him, and by his wounds I am healed. (Isaiah 53v4-5)
Therefore I give no place to sickness or pain, for God sent his word and healed me. (Psalm 107v20)
I speak to sickness and disease today and proclaim that it must bow to the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Every knee must bow in heaven, on earth and under the earth to the name of Jesus. (Philippians 2v10)
Heavenly Father, I thank you that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in me and gives life to my mortal body. (Romans 8v11)
