HOW IT ALL STARTED
JOHN G. LAKE
John G. Lake was born in Canada in 1870. In his personal account - ‘Adventures in God’ Lake wrote “As I think back to my boyhood and my young manhood, there comes to mind remembrances like a nightmare – sickness, doctors, nurses, hospitals, hearses, funerals, graveyards, and tombstones; A sorrowful household; a broken-hearted mother and a grief-stricken father struggling to forget the sorrows of the past in order to assist the living members of the family who need their love and care."
In 1908 God sent Lake to Africa where he helped to establish over 100 churches. Upon his return to America he came to Spokane, Washington. He rented a suite in the Rookery Building to pray for the sick. It was known as the Healing Rooms. Lake and his assistants, who were known as "Healing technicians", prayed for the sick in the name of Jesus.
Over a five year period there were 100,000 documented healings. The US Government declared Spokane the healthiest city in the world.
John Lake was a man of purpose, vision, strength and character. His one goal in life was to bring the fullness of God to every person. He often said that the secret of heaven's power was not in the doing, but in the being. He believed that spirit-filled Christians should enjoy the same type of ministry that Jesus did while living on earth.
Lake's healing and preaching ministry spanned the years from 1898 until his death in 1935.
In 1999 Cal Pierce re-opened the same Healing Rooms used by John Lake in Spokane. Incredible healings began to take place again. Since then over 300 Healing Rooms have opened in 21 countries.
The International Association of Healing Rooms are spread across many Christian Denominations, and are all committed to obey the command of Jesus Christ to heal the sick in His name.
HOW CHEAM HEALING ROOMS BEGAN
A desire to help and bring people to the lord Jesus has always been very much on our hearts since the 1970s. We had been to a Katherine Khulman healing conference in the USA, and I had read of the great healing ministries of past generations.
As we began reading all the books about Lake's life and ministry the Lord sovereignly opened the door for us to go to the 2005 Healing Rooms Conference in Spokane USA where we joined 1,000 'Healing Room Technicians' from around the world. This greatly inspired us and soon we became actively involved in working towards HR in our locality.
